It's called being respectful when you are in another country. When you go abroad (if you actually do), do you not show respect for the cultures and customs of the country that you are in?? (..no, you probably don't do you?). I know that, like the British, so many Americans think that 'Johnny Foreigner' should prostrate himself when meeting them...but those days are gone pal.

Agreed. Just being respectful and courteous. Do not leaders of other country's shake hands with the President when they come to meet him?

I have to say I am disappointed Israel took that attitude. It would be a good opportunity for Israel to put forward a good foot, but apparently not.

I don't doubt they are aggressor but "they" feel they are fighting for their homeland and their survival. It is a no win situation for everyone.
Two "groups" want the same thing and like I said before, it will not end unless someone makes them or one of them is dead, or both.Shame too because both groups have a long history, longer even than most people think they know.

I think it is great that the UN granted them some obscure status but I worry what will happen when the Palestinians come to the realization that their "new" status doesn't really mean anything at all.

Then it would be better if they WENT to their 'homeland' (Israel) to do it wouldn't it. Nobody is attacking their 'homeland' so there is nothing to defend against. They are aggressors that are occupying a country belonging to someone else and are, yet again, expanding their occupation of it. Hell, even the USA are now saying that their intended expansion is "inflammatory".

Plad - note the propensity for some to use their opinion and state it as "fact".

And funny how they equate respect with weakness. I think its the other way around: its takes strength to avoid meaningless show of bravado.

There is a world of difference between shame and respect. Most people of average or above cognitive skills understand this.

While I was in Okinawa it wasn't unusual for people to greet the natives of Okinawa with a bow as a show of respect for tradition.

As it seems, the world is getting closer to a solution in this case...........and almost all see the same solution.....

The reality in nowadays politics is much different that it was few years before: we have more World Powers and public opinion is more sensitive about the Israel-Palestinian war, and in an internet world, is difficult to hide the truth.

Let's hope that the solution will come quickly and that "weapons industry" will soon...go out of (wars) business.
