...and my defence of Spain is just to wind-up you tossers. I actually hate the fecking place...hate it with a passion you couldn't even begin to imagine. If I could get out I would go tonight without a moments hesitation. ....but I don't like to see people blaming the country for things that it couldn't have foreseen and couldn't prevent even if it did foresee it. You can criticise it's building projects all you want but countries like Spain and Greece has very little industry other than building and tourism. If it doesn't build then there is no employment for it's people.

When the world's financial banking crash came (and we all know what caused it), Spain had nothing to fall back on, no other industries to carry it like Germany, Britain or France had. Nobody could afford to buy houses, other Europeans couldn't afford to go on holiday to Spain...so it was screwed.....and nothing they could do about it.

Yea, things are tough in Spain. Valencia was not my favorite place but I didn't hate it. Old Marbella and Ronda would be where I would want to be if I could make a living there or maybe if I didn't still have to work. Just thinking about having a glass of tinto and some olives on the beach anywhere on the Costa del Sol is enough to make me want to be there. Then, to get up and go find a bowel of some great Sopa de Mariscos or some seasonal Cochinillo Asado would be wonderful. Spain has changed so much since I started going there in 1970. It used to be that on every corner in the city there were two of Franco's Guardia Civil armed with Franco 9mm automatic pistols. If you were aiming to get in trouble or break the law; you were toast. But even in Madrid in 1970 many of the shopkeepers didn't lock their doors at night and the shop girls walked home without fear of being accosted. It wasn't freedom; but it was something for a tourist kid to see.

I do know what your are talking about when it comes to litter, pets, and entitled people. Where I wouldn't think of dropping waste paper on the street; I see the locals doing it all time. But I see it here too in certain neighborhoods; so if I have to put up with it I would still rather do it in Spain.

Have you taken the HS train from Madrid to Malaga? Not a bad way to travel.

Found these two little pics interesting. Considered putting them under the humor thread, but they beckoned to me to be posted here. The UN one certainly sums up my feelings about any attempts by the NWO to disarm the good citizens of the USA.

It's still safe to walk the streets (apart from the fact that you may injure yourself by tripping over an old fridge that someone has dumped in the gutter) but I don't know how long that will last as there has been a lot of Eastern Europeans moving in looking to earn a living picking pockets. One saving grace is that the Guardia Civil here don't fuck about saying 'Would you be kind enough to accompany me to the station Sir so that we can question you over a cup of tea and some biscuits?' If they catch you breaking the law, you'll get a good kicking and a crack over the head with a truncheon.....and that's just for illegal parking!


Now the rich Russians and Chinese are buying up everything they can get their hands on and the Prime Minister, in an attempt to encourage these rich foreigners here, is offering them automatic residency if they buy a house over €150,000...Oiy Vey!!!
