Well, yes they are. I have a warm fuzzy that I have a handgun nearby in my house and that if anybody try's getting in my front door I can get to it and defend my home. I have a warm fuzzy that if anybody try's to get my vehicle from me I have a handgun nearby that I can use to defend myself and my vehicle.
What brings me nightmares is having any one of scenarios happen and having no way to defend myself. This is what keeps me awake at night. Right now I sleep well.

Short story. Several years ago my wife and I got Concealed carry permits. She use to go walking for exercise and wore her handgun under her shirt. One morning this creep pulls up next to her as she's walking down the sidewalk drinking a soda through a straw. He pulls up and says a few things to her and saide he liked the way she put her lips on the straw. She pulls her shirt up and displays her holstered guns and says to him, I would like to see your lips on this. He couldn't get out there quick enough. Plad stuff like this goes on all the time. I don't know what it's like where you live but here - anything can happen at any given moment.

Perhaps he needs a little history lesson about what occurred in the Warsaw slums seventy some years ago. Ultimately those poor folks were over run by German forces who were much better armed. Despite being out gunned those poor people did manage to kill a few German soldiers in the process with nothing more than broom sticks and bricks Oh wait a minute, they managed to get their hands on a few guns and held onto their neighborhood a bit longer. If they had been better equipped perhaps more of them would have actually survived to tell this story. But instead, those who survived and were captured were immediately put to death upon their arrival at concentration camps.

Ummm, no fuck-wit. You claimed that disarming the people paves the way for tyranny. I asked you which countries sank into anarchy and tyranny after losing it's right to gun ownership. Dumbass came back with a few countries that suffered civil unrest. I'm asking for the evidence that the unrest was caused because the people were disarmed...as per your claim that countries suffer tyranny when the the people are disarmed. Neither your or dumbass has provided it. You make the claim, you take on the burden of proof to show that your claim is true. Don't make a claim and then demand that I prove you wrong.

An obvious flaw in your 'guns-prevent-tyranny' concept is that you are assuming that the people with the guns will be fighting against the tyrants, and not for them. Unless you presume that gun ownership has some sort of link with morality or a dedication to freedom that assumption makes little sense; gun ownership by citizens can just as easily mean that the local government death squads don't need to be armed by the government.

Another obvious flaw in your 'guns-prevent-tyranny' concept is that there is no realistic way that a modern military force is going to be defeated by an untrained mob of citizens waving guns. Got it now?

There's no evidence that gun ownership prevents tyranny, or that a lack of guns causes tyranny.

You are deluded. It would have made no difference. All that would have happened is that the Germans would have thrown in more fire-power and more troops which would have achieved the result they wanted.

You are deluded beyond belief if you think that the citizens of a developed country are going to defeat the highly trained, well armed, well equipped modern army of that country. Put 50 of your armed citizens up against just one laser guided missile. How long do you think it will be before your 'protectors of freedom and democracy' are waving a white flag.
