The Adult Theater Hypocricy

This aside, I still don't get it. Why bust people in adult theaters when no money is changing hands? What's the point other than pure, unadulterated harassment? I guarantee you that if a straight couple were in the theater playing, they'd just throw them out and not issue so much as a warning. This behavior specifically targets people engaged in homosexual acts. I understand it if they're doing it in a public restroom or park or shopping mall, but in a private business? People take whatever risks they want in public knowing they face possible arrest. But to worry about it in a sexually oriented business where there is privacy, zero prostitution and only private drug use, then WTF? It's harassment [and discrimination] pure and simple.

Far too many people are narcissistic and lazy, "law enforcement officers" included. You said it yourself "safety of the cop himself" from the cop's perspective, why put myself in danger when I can make arrests in safety with meek or at least compliant victims... uh I mean suspects.

Additionally, there's the aspect that some cops take pleasure in harassing and causing suffering to gay people.

At least the cops there haven't killed any of the Adult Theater goers, yet.

Absolutely true. I'm really sick of it. The city can't prohibit the opening of SOB's, but it can do whatever the hell else it wants. The situation has calmed down a little now that we have an openly lesbian Mayor, but it's still around. Gay behavior is still discriminated against as though it's any different than me having sex with some woman in exactly the same adult theater. The guy next to me giving a guy a blowjob gets on a sex registry while I get a slap on the wrist.

I never went to Midtown because I didn't want to run into people I knew. My haunts were more remote, suburban places that offered a bit more anonymity. But yes, it's still around to my knowledge.

Not true. There was a place there that catered to couples that was raided several times and people were arrested. I don't know if they're still there, but they changed from a public adult bookstore to a private club and, somehow that complied with the law. Anyone could walk in and pay a membership fee to join the club to have access to the private rooms. Texas has plenty of private clubs and has had them for years. Most of them, however, are bars, set up to keep the "negras" out. When I lived in Austin, the local police used to sit across from all of the adult bookstores and record license plates. It's a moral thing. Odd thing about Texas, though. For such a "family-values" type of place, that state is LOADED with porn shops and "spas."

...i think you're right...because for a couple of years i used the mid-town spa in dallas...it must have been a private club because i always had to buy a membership to get in...the first couple of trips i bought a 1 day membership...once i knew i was going to be a regular i bought a 6-month membership (much cheaper than by the day)...

Really? I'm surprised. Stand corrected. I guess my point was simply that there seems to be more anti-gay sentiment than anything else. I've never seen a heterosexual couple on a sex registry for engaging consensual activity at a private business. But maybe you're right. I agree with your observations about that proverbial Texas dichotomy of tons of SOB's in a conservative state.

Gawker reports that actor Nick Stahl was busted at a porn shop in Hollywood by the same cop who busted Fred Willard. According to said cop, he was committing a "lewd act" in a private viewing booth [by himself]. No kidding! "Porn shop + private booth playing x-rated movies = sex!" What part of this equation is confusing? The cop's a stalker if you ask me.
